As established in our last post, relying solely on AI generated content comes with many risks. Tools like ChatGPT simply aren’t good enough to replace human writers, fact checkers and editors. That said, AI does have some benefits in the content generation process. So, let’s find out how to use AI safely in the content world.

Use AI for Content Ideas – Then Expand
A blank page can be daunting for any writer. After all, the pressure is on to create a unique piece of work that’ll educate, entertain and encourage people to come back for more. Relying on tools such as ChatGPT to do the job for you is a big no-no. After all, the content will be somewhat generic, might land you in all sorts of trouble when it comes to plagiarism and will possibly be factually inaccurate. That said, it can help with content ideas.
If you’re in the research phase and are looking for sparks of information that can be investigated further, AI can help. It’s also fairly useful for article structure. But it’s up to you to take those interesting snippets and turn them into something much more innovative and unique.
-
Embrace Quality over Quantity
Generating a large amount of articles using AI without any type of quality control is a bad idea. If you do use AI for content creation, make sure each and every article is thoroughly edited so that it doesn’t sound generic. And fact check to avoid embarrassment down the line.
AI is prone to factual errors and can even be incredibly biased. If you post AI content without reading it or editing it, then that’s your responsibility and you’ll need to handle any potential consequences, including damage to your brand’s reputation.
While AI might seem like a handy new tool designed to reduce workload, it should simply be used as a starting point. Human editors and writers are still very much required.

Adjust Your Prompts
When it comes to AI, it’s important to understand that your output is only as good as your input. In other words, the more time you spend adjusting and tweaking your prompts, the better the content you’ll receive. Spend time refining your commands and testing your AI input. Think about providing more detailed prompts so that AI knows exactly what you’re looking for and avoids the more generic responses.
So, instead of saying: “Write a post about Shakespeare’s tragedies.” You could say, “Write a post about loyalty and guilt in Shakespeare’s Macbeth.”
-
Integrate AI with Human Creativity
When prompted correctly, AI can produce a relatively detailed piece of work. But it will likely lack any kind of emotion or creativity. This is where human writers are needed. Humans are much better at understanding context, evoking emotions and producing content that’s engaging and tugs on the heart strings. When consumers connect with a brand on an emotional level, they’re much more likely to develop brand loyalty. So, make sure you integrate AI with human creativity for a hybrid approach that works.

Check, Check and Check
Monitoring the success of any AI or hybrid content strategy is an absolute must. If you notice a dip in performance and engagement then people might not be resonating with what you have to say. Or, your content is too generic and isn’t doing well in the SERPs. By tracking metrics such as likes, shares and views, you can make sure you stay at the top of your game.
Integrating AI into your strategy can work, but it must not replace human writers, editors and overall quality control.
